How would you do this in Photoshop?

I want to take a crescent-moon shaped image and ';straighten'; it out a bit so that it is not as curved, more nearly straight. The straightened figure will be longer than the original. How would you do this in Photoshop?
Go to FILE%26gt;NEW%26gt; BLANK FILE%26gt;OK

Go to FILE%26gt;DUPLICATE %26gt;OK

Use PAINT BUCKET to Colour one file[say black]

Go to CLONE STAMP TOOL and select Hard Edged BRUSH

Make the circle the size that you want

If you want a white moon on a black surface place the CLONE BRUSH[circle] over the White sheet %26gt;Hold down ALT and Click

Move BRUSH over Black Blank file and click twice.

A White Circle appears on the Black Background

Increase the size of the BRUSH a little

ALT CLICK the larger Circle over the Black Background

Place the Circle over the other smaller white Circle leaving the creascant that you want ...

Now go to FILTER %26gt;DISTORT%26gt;LIQUIFY

Then make the circle about the same size as the inside of the creasant and gently ease the creasant to the shape that you want

Simple?
