How are these backgrounds created in Photoshop?

I'm assuming they were created in Photoshop :) I know how to use it, but I have no idea how I'd go about creating something like this:

Any ideas? How are these backgrounds created in Photoshop?
That is not a background.. it is a layer layed on top of the photo of cracked soil and set the layer to overlay :PHow are these backgrounds created in Photoshop?
Use different layers. Then hue adjustments as well as saturation.

Then combine the layers and such.

What is the difference between Adobe Photoshop CS3 and CS3 Extended?

I want to be able to do editing of personal photos and do a lot of effects with them. What is the difference between CS3 and CS3 Extended, and why might I want one over the other (other than price?)

Thanks. What is the difference between Adobe Photoshop CS3 and CS3 Extended?
CS3 Extended contains all features of CS3 plus tools for editing and importing some 3D graphics file formats, enhancing video, and comprehensive image analysis tools, utilizing MATLAB integration and DICOM file support.

Unless you do 3d art (like 3ds Max or Blender), edit video etc, you'll want CS3 Extended. But for the core features of CS3 (and Bridge+ImageReady), standard is the way to go

Is it okay to download Adobe Photoshop CS3?

Does it cost anything to download Adobe Photoshop CS3?

And does it take up a lot of space on the computer? Is it okay to download Adobe Photoshop CS3?
Ok the trial version doesnt cost anything but to buy it out right it is a tad expensive, with licencs costing an arm and a leg, you may be able to get education copies for far less!

It does take up a fair bit of space but the program has super rich editing and allows you to manipulate not only entire images but layers of images as well, can convert to vector e.t.c so if you think about all the functionality in the product its not overly big when you think games alone take up a few gigs!Is it okay to download Adobe Photoshop CS3?
You can try it for 30 days free if you download it from the adobe website. There are cracks out there to run it without a license, but you shouldn't do that. It's just stealing you know. Maybe you don't need the full version, or you can buy an older version cheaper on ebay or something, then just buy the upgrade on the web from adobe. The upgrades are way cheaper so do the math first.

Photoshop CS: Sometimes when I make text, the font comes out larger that it should be. How do I fix this?

For example: I use a pixel font, and normally I set it to 8pt. Sometimes, the font comes up way to big and I end up using a much smaller number. The font also turns out quite dodgy and unclear at times, especially with the fonts ';Beyond Wonderland'; and ';Big Dots';.

Thank you for your help!Photoshop CS: Sometimes when I make text, the font comes out larger that it should be. How do I fix this?
Different fonts are set to a different sizing. The King %26amp;%26amp; the Queen at size 75 in photoshop is MUCH larger than other fonts. You basically have to figure the sizing out yourself.

Make sure Anti-aliasing is turned on and fool around with the settings, Sharp will solve your problem. You can see ';aa'; near the top of the screen with the text tool selected or in the right click menu with the text tool selected.

  • How to make things transparent in photoshop?!?

Okay so I'm dragging this image into photoshop

and there is a white background, how do i make that

background transparent? How to make things transparent in photoshop?!?
Try deleting the background, by dragging the background layer to the trash can (done in the Layers panel of the Layers, Channels, Paths box in the bottom right hand corner).

If this doesn't work it's probably because the image you're dragging into photoshop has a white background itself. If this is what you want to delete use the ';magic wand'; tool to select the white background and hit CTRL-X to cut it from the picture... Bingo, background gone!

    Good luck!

How do you ';focus'; images in photoshop?

My sisters wedding is tomorrow, and I'm 14 so no money to buy a present. I have 3 different versions of photoshop(cs3, cs4, and 6.0). I have a picture of them together kissing, and I was going to ';focus'; the image in the shape of a heart. So it would be like the background would be blurry, but they would be kissing in the shape of a heart, with their names above their head. Any tutorial links on how to focus an image like this? How do you ';focus'; images in photoshop?
I sent you an email .I will do it for you if you like? How do you ';focus'; images in photoshop?
I think you are using the term ';focus'; wrong. The image is either in FOCUS or not and photoshop isn't going to help.

I think you are wanting to create a border in the shape of a heart so that the image of your sister in the photograph show up inside the heart shaped border. If that is the case, it is pretty easy. make a layer with the border and the heart and use the eraser tool so that the image shows through the heart layer.

Self taught or going to school?

I know people who go to school for it. A year or more and they are very good. I have seen people self taught who have been at it for much longer who are terrible but some who have been at it for just a few months who are very good. Everyone learns at their own pace.
If you search youtube for tutorials you will find tons. To learn it from the ground up would take a while. I've heard of college students majoring in just photoshop, but I don't know if thats just a myth.

The best thing I'd suggest is to figure out what you want to do and try to find a tutorial for it. If you just blindly started watching tutorials you'd get overload.
